FAQs

  • What are basic costs to fix or install a garage door? Garage door springs run about $350+, a new garage door $1400+, a new garage door opener $450+
  • How long do things last? The door itself last 25-30 years with good maintenance. During the life of the door, you should replace the rollers every 5 years, and springs 10 years. Garage door openers 8+ years
  • Should I DIY my broken spring? You're better off leaving this one to a pro. About 50,000 people per year in the US are injured by garage doors, most trying to DIY a spring. Springs have a lot of tension and can get you hurt. It is actually more dangerous to remove a broken spring because the door is still often under tension if you have two springs or a cable is stuck.

  • Why do I have springs running along the sides or my door? These are extension springs. It's an older system, but still functional and can be replaced
  • Can I do anything to increase the life of my garage door? Yes. Every 6 months you should lubricate your door. Petroleum gel is best. Every 2 years, you should realign your doors. Foundations in Houston move more than in most cities because of our clayish soil
